Spring Tour of St. Genevieve
Road extended tour / Saturday, May 16 through Sunday, May 17, 2009
This is a great way to kick off the bike touring season. We start in Columbia, Illinois, and spend two days riding along the Mississippi River to St. Genevieve, Missouri and back. This tour is on flat, quiet, low traffic country roads in the river valley, and features a ferry crossing of the mighty river each day. St. Genevieve is a lovely stopover point for the tour, especially for history and architecture buffs. The town is the oldest permanent European settlement west of the Mississippi, established in roughly 1735, and has the largest collection of original French Colonial buildings in the United States. You’ll definitely want to spend some time visiting the museums and shops in downtown St. Genevieve.
We are not including accommodations in this tour package, but we have arranged for a special rate of $51.00 for a double room at the Microtel Inn and Suites, located 2 miles from the St. Genevieve central square. Call the hotel at 573-883-8884 and tell them you are with the TC Tours group to receive the special group rate.
Cost for this tour is $35 per person. The price covers a group dinner Saturday night, luggage transport, water and snack breaks, map, sag and mechanical support. The price does not cover lodging, meals other than Saturday dinner (but breakfast is provided by the Microtel Inn), and ferry tolls. To sign up call TC Tours at 314-739-4648 or write tctours@touringcyclist.com.
